NYTVF 2006 Submission Guidelines

The New York Television Festival will provide unprecedented access to network and cable executives for emerging television makers looking to showcase new and innovative ideas for television programming. Independent Pilot Competition

The New York Television Festival “Independent Pilot Competition” begins on February 1, 2006 and ends on July 7, 2006. All entries must be received by the NYTVF no later than 11:59 PM on July 7, 2006. This is not a postmark date.

The categories for the Competition are:

- Drama
- Comedy
- Reality
- Educational
- Animation

Live-action pilots……(15-22 minutes)
Animated pilots………(2-20 minutes)

Fees


- Pilots received before the Early Submission Deadline (before midnight, June 1st, 2006)…..$30

- Pilots received between the Early Submission Deadline and the Final Submission Deadline (June 2nd—Midnight, July 7th, 2006)…..$50

Check and money orders made payable to the “New York Television Festival” or “NYTVF” are acceptable forms of payment. *Students who include a photocopy of a current, valid student ID are not required to pay an entry fee.

Limit one (1) entry per person.

Eligibility

- Programs created or funded by broadcast networks, cable networks or studios are ineligible to compete in the Independent Pilot Competition but may be submitted to the NYTVF for consideration as a special screening.

- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. If under the age of 18, entries must include written parental consent.

- Programs for the Independent Pilot Competition must not have been publicly broadcast on television (except for previous broadcast on college campus television) prior to the festival.

- Foreign language programs must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.

- Programs must be received by midnight on July 7, 2006.

Entry Packet

Note: Entries must be submitted on either DVD or VHS; International submissions must be submitted on VHS (NTSC) or DVD formatted for multi-zone or Zone 1 (North America).

Requirements:
- (3) Three DVD or VHS copies of the Pilot Program labeled with Title, Producer, Director and/or Production Company and contact information. Each DVD or VHS should include a one-minute pilot Trailer for promotional purposes and a One-minute “Bonus Feature” (This may consist of behind-the-scenes footage, cast and crew interviews, “deleted scenes,” or other promotional features pertaining to the pilot program.)

- Two printed black-and-white or color production stills from the pilot program. Two digital (preferably hi resolution) black-and-white or color production stills from the pilot program burned to a CD. We suggest providing the same photos for both digital and print.

- Any available press kit material.

- Signed Application Form and Entry Fee.
