The NYTVF Awards ceremony on 9/17 featured the world premiere of two pilots created as part of the Procter & Gamble Productions Flying Solo TV Pilot Contest. The two winners of the contest, Blaire Byhower and Hannah Friedman, starred in and helped produce separate reality pilots about their lives during the summer after their college graduation. The two pilots will debut at the NYTVF before getting digital distribution on Lifetime’s Web site at www.mylifetime.com.
Entry for the PGP-NYTVF Flying Solo Contest is now CLOSED. Thanks so much to all who entered.
The New York Television Festival and Procter & Gamble Productions have teamed up to offer young, aspiring TV producers the opportunity to help create and star in a new female-oriented reality/drama TV pilot. “Flying Solo” lets recent female college graduates from around the country tell their stories to the world as they begin an exciting new phase in their lives.
Up to three separate TV pilots will be cast based on a nationwide open audition of female college students. Potential producer/stars can enter by sending in short videos introducing themselves as well as the individuals and stories that their potential series would involve. The winners of the contest will have the summer after their college graduation turned into a reality/drama TV pilot in which they play an active role in directing and producing a significant component of the story. The pilots will introduce a unique hybrid method of storytelling that incorporates user-generated content with professionally shot footage to show an intimate first-person POV of the young women whose lives are being featured.

Audition Video Guidelines
Good audition videos will relate to viewers detailed information about your life and your personality. Ideally, your story will be told without you spending the entire length of your video speaking directly into the camera. Some suggested topics to touch upon in your footage include, but are not limited to: family members, friends, summer jobs, internships, significant others, final days of college, commencement ceremonies, and hobbies. After entering, please keep taking footage of important people, places, and events in your life, as this footage will be useful in helping create the TV pilot for the winning producer.
