  • NYTVF Pilots on NYCTV

The NYTVF is pleased to announce the NYTVF Spotlight Show, coming to WNYC Channel 25!

In the week before the festival, we will be broadcasting some pilots from past years of the Festival, as well as a special look at last year's NYTVF. The schedule is as follows:

    M O N D A Y
    Ex-Pats: Bangalore
    Monday, Sept 14th
    9:00 pm

Set in the rapidly growing, chaotic city of Bangalore, this series follows four ex-pats who are living and working in India as part of the global outsourcing boom. In the pilot, Kelly, an American who’s never traveled overseas before, finds herself dealing with the aftermath of a one-night stand with a bi-polar Norwegian. David, a British IT consultant, and Priya, his Indian-American wife, prepare for the arrival of Priya’s guru. Nathan, an American corporate trainer, faces a crisis of confidence after his tried-and-true techniques fail to impress his Indian audience. These characters mingle at a regular happy hour in a trendy Bangalore bar and, by the end of the episode, their stories converge in a way unique to the insular world of ex-pats.

    Red Hook High
    Wednesday, Sept 16th
    9:00 pm

Red Hook High is an ensemble series that explores the lives of students, teachers and families of an alternative high school in Red Hook, a forgotten Brooklyn neighborhood that lives in the shadow of New York City. On the first day of school, students and teachers from Red Hook High do their best to get the school year going, despite what their everyday lives might throw at them. Matt, a math teacher, takes on a new role in the faculty. Justin, an openly queer student, prepares to battle at home and on the way to school. Lenae and Star, best friends, face a very adult situation and can't stop giggling about it. And Peter discovers just how hard it is to get to school sometimes.

    Living in Captivity
    Thursday, Sept 17th
    9:00 pm

Living in Captivity is a workplace comedy set in a zoo and styled like a wildlife documentary about the mysterious species Homo Sapiens. When novice zookeeper Alexandra Vogel is left in charge of the zoo on the day of the arrival of a new chimpanzee troop, her disgruntled co-workers plot to sabotage her leadership role. But when bonobo apes- the porn stars of the animal kingdom- are delivered instead, Alex makes the controversial decision to put them on exhibit, resulting in a media frenzy that puts her job in jeopardy.

    The Gauntlet
    Friday, Sept 18th
    9:00 pm

The Gauntlet receives home video submissions from people with unusual jobs who have workplace scores to settle. Our host visits the person being challenged and throws down the proverbial glove, outlining the cause of the dispute. Once the challenge is accepted, the host goes behind the scenes of the jobs, demonstrating their unique skills and tools. Featured in the pilot are epic confrontations between two competitive ice sculptors and cutthroat Zamboni drivers. The winner of each battle wins a cash prize and ultimate bragging rights.
