The New York Television Festival

Launched in 2007, the TV Festival PassPort Program offers an opportunity for outstanding TV producers, writers, and directors to showcase their work on an international stage. In September 2007, the New York Television Festival inaugurated this unique exchange program by announcing a partnership with the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGEITF). Since then, the NYTVF has extended the program to include the Rio de Janeiro International Television Festival (RJITF) and the Banff World Television Festival (BWTVF).

As part of the program, the artists whose work is featured in the NYTVF Independent Pilot Competition are eligible to receive free passes to attend MGEITF in the United Kingdom, RJITF in Brazil and BWTVF in Canada. In exchange, a number of TV creators from the UK, Brazil, and Canada will receive free artist passes to the NYTVF, where they will have the ability to attend the same panels, seminars, and talks open exclusively to the producers and content creators featured in competition. Additionally, the pilots created by those named to the NYTVF Fellowship Program will be showcased for audiences at PassPort Program festivals. The PassPort program represents a significant first step towards constructing a global artistic community of independent TV creators.
